My father passed away in January and we knew he never wanted to have a traditional funeral. Affordable Burials & Cremations came highly recommended to us by a friend. Still wanting to do our own due diligence, we called several well-known companies throughout the city to inquire about their services/pricing and what we could expect if we chose them. ABC was the only company who said they were sorry to hear about our loss and didn't immediately direct us to their website. This personal touch made all the difference! Fatima and the staff at ABC were professional, kind, and extremely helpful throughout the entire process. Their website was straightforward, and their pricing was transparent and fair. We called them many times with questions about paperwork and they were always patient and keen to assist. The information package they provided upon picking up the remains (what needs to be done, when to do it, where to mail the paperwork, etc.) was comprehensive and took all the guess work out of what needed to be done. Considering death is a very stressful and upsetting time, we couldn't have been more pleased with the service we received. if you are reading this, you are already having a hard time. I just came back from retrieving my wife's remains. Amanda, the person I dealt with was beyond fantastic. They have all of the paper work laid out for you, even down to the most common credit card company's phone numbers to call and cancel cards when you are up to it. It is hard to tell some one on the phone why you are calling specially if it still doesn't seem real. Having the task of claiming your loved one so organized and thought out was a true blessing. Not often do I have kind words to say about any business I deal with, most are apathetic at best and down rude most of the time. Not here. It has to be done, you have to do it, they make it as easy, pleasant and efficient as possible. The same morning I had been researching what I needed and then, Amanda presents me a file "Ok, here's this, here's that, do this, keep that, mail them this, use these forms"Did I mention the forms are already completed with any information that they have available ? We did not have the chance to make prior arrangements with ABC, but 3 hours after our first call early on a Saturday morning, we were able to complete all paperwork promptly provided by Amanda, and sensitive and respectful staff came to our house and took our family member into their care. The price was great and I'm glad my brother found them. All the paperwork gets prepared for you and they act quickly when the time comes.Where starts were lost was when I sent a pic of my Dad for the obituary and Fatima made a comment.... "Wow, did he ever change" (referring to how he has decomposed). This comment bothered me for quite some time and I felt it lacked professionalism. She also cried during two meetings. When she did so the first time, I thought it was sincere. But when she did so at the second meeting, I started to wonder if she can make herself tear up. Our family unexpectedly lost our mother while she was visiting from outside of the country. We contacted ABC because of all the good reviews we read. I learned about ABC from a brochure that they had left at Wexford Residence. The nursing home suggested that I make advance arrangements for my mother as she was 101 years old and I did so online back in February. It was very easy to navigate their website and when the time came in November all I had to do was make one phone call and everything was handled professionally , efficiently, and courteously . There were no high pressure sales pitches and the fee for their services was very reasonable. Fatima ensured that everything went smoothly and no detail was overlooked. I am very pleased to have this opportunity to express how pleased I was with your services. As the Estate Trustee, I was entrusted by the deceased and his family to make appropriate arrangements for his cremation and burial. While significant resources were available for a “Grand Celebration”, the deceased had requested modest arrangements be made. Honoring these wishes, I turned to Affordable Burials and Cremations, and was impressed with the ease with which all arrangements could be made, and while not an issue for me with this Estate, the value pricing. I did have one concern, which was that with such economical pricing, might the personal service and all arrangements seem “cheap”, which would not have been appropriate. I had no reason for any concern. As I dealt with ABC, their compassion and respect to my needs and the deceased were uncompromised. When time came to pick up the deceased from his home, ABC arrived promptly and with the greatest of respect and dignity took care of all arrangements for the removal, cremation and paperwork to my, and the families, complete satisfaction. I live in Las Vegas, and my mom passed away in Toronto. She had wanted to be cremated, and I had no idea how to go about any of it. My father was going to pass away from cancer so I was researching funeral homes as we had NO idea of what to do. I came across Affordable Burials & Cremations and had seen that they were an excellent organization. The reviews are true, especially about Fatima. She was very sincere and helpful, she actually feels for you with empathy. She guided our family the whole way until the end. Our family wanted to do a Buddhist ceremony at the Chapel with more extended time than was listed on their site. She was very accommodating. The chapel was just the right size and comfortable. Lots of parking too for visitors. I loved that ABC's services are very flexible and customizable. They accommodate all sorts of budgets. The prices were more than fair. I called from the hospital my mom was passing. I was confused and emotional. Fatima was wonderful she took my information told me not to worry they would walk me though everything. They handled everything from the time the hospital called them until the service at the Chapel.They guided me though some tough decisions and held my hand Fatima and Andrew were caring and compassionate their passion to help others shines though.
