It is with deep sorrow and much love that we announce the passing of Ms. Yvonne L. Woodward, who passed away on May 6, 2026, in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, at the age of 83.
Yvonne was born on September 19, 1942, to Benjamin Ezekiel Woodward and Viola Woodward in Prospect, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines. She was the third-born child and the only daughter among six children.
Yvonne migrated to Canada in the mid-1960s, first arriving in Montreal before making her home in Toronto, with a brief period in British Columbia. She built a full life in Canada and worked in administration. Though she did not have children of her own, she poured her love into her family and held a special place in the lives of her brothers, nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family. She was a devoted sister, aunt, cousin, and friend, and left an indelible mark on those who knew and loved her.
Yvonne will be remembered for her unwavering faith, kindness, her bright spirit, and her wonderful sense of humour. She had a wide smile, a joyful laugh, and a gift for bringing humour and light into everyday moments. She loved her family deeply and kept them close in her heart and in her prayers.
Yvonne was predeceased by her brother, Douglas Woodward. She will be dearly missed by her brothers, Everal (Ruby), Alexis (Jeanie), Russell (Fay), Beresford (Brenda) and sister-in law Rosita Woodward; her nieces and nephews; her cousins, especially Thelma, Lloyd, Florette, and Stuart, who were like siblings to her; and the community in the building where she lived for over two decades.
Her warmth, laughter, loving presence, and steadfast faith will remain forever in our hearts, and we take comfort in knowing she is at peace in God’s care.
“Surely goodness and mercy will follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.” Psalm 23:6
