Wayne Frederic Briede

April 20, 1956 — February 26, 2024

Toronto

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Wayne Briedé, son of Gordon and Mary
Briedé. He was a brother to Nicholas, Carolyn, Madeleine and Helene Briedé, uncle to Julia Newlove,
Nicholas and Cole Petican, Luc and Jack Briedé-Cooper, and Derek and Troy McInroy.
His father’s job working in the commercial aviation field led to his family living in Quebec, New York,
California and Alaska. Summers were spent in California as well as Europe and Scandinavia. It was a
wonderful childhood filled with a lot of love.
Wayne was highly intelligent and excelled both socially and academically in school. After attaining a
BSc from University of Guelph and being offered a full scholarship to study human medicine at
Queens, Wayne chose to pursue a career in Real Estate instead. Within a short period of time he became
one of the top agents in Toronto and achieved sales in the 99th percentile range, making him one of the
most successful agents in the country at the time.
Wayne, like his father, was a gifted gardener. He had a beautiful perennial garden at his home in
Riverdale and took great pride in his work. Later in life he volunteered to care for many public gardens
within the city. He also had a great appreciation for the arts, collecting paintings and prints as well as
attending numerous musicals and concerts of his favourite performing artists. Special mention to
Donna Summers, his favourite singer!
Wayne was a kind, caring, generous and compassionate person who cared deeply for his family and
friends. The impact that he had on all of our lives is profound and he will forever be remembered as a
loving brother and uncle.
We loved him will all our hearts and he will be dearly missed.
