Victoria Quileza

August 6, 1946 — May 24, 2024

It is with heavy hearts that Victoria’s family announce her sudden passing at Sunnybrook Hospital in Toronto, Ontario on May 24, 2024. At her bedside, she was surrounded by those who loved her - her daughter Maria (Jeff) and grandson Esteban, her sisters from Winnipeg, Rosalinda and Clarita, her niece Cheryl (Dante) and friend Steven. She is also survived by her sisters in the Philippines, Prescilla, Carmelita and Adelaida. She was predeceased by her parents, Demetria & Brigido, her brother Dioscoro and her husband, Rogelio Quileza, the love of her life.

Victoria immigrated from Talugtug, Nueva Ecija, Philippines to Winnipeg, Manitoba in 1976. She worked in the garment industry until her retirement in 2010 and was devoted to St Mary’s Cathedral in Winnipeg where she contributed to all areas of parish life. Vicky and Roger were recognizable members of the community as they lived a life of service to the Cathedral. Their acts of service created small ripples that reverberated through time and left so much positive impact beyond their church community.

Victoria loved spending time with family and friends. She enjoyed lunch with her ladies at church after service, dinner and long walks with her sisters, and road trips with friends across the border. However, nothing gave her greater joy than her grandson, Esteban. They were each other’s sun and moon and had a bond like no other despite living in separate provinces. They spent many hours on video calls talking or not talking, just being comforted in knowing that the other is there.

Whether you knew her as Mom, Lola, Auntie, Tita, Manang Vicky or Victoria, she lived a life of devotion and kindness and her presence will be missed.

Memorial service and interment to be held on June 21, 2024 at St Mary's Cathedral in Winnipeg at 10:00am with a reception to follow in the church hall. Interment will be at 2:30pm at Assumption Cemetery.
