Born in Verdun, Quebec; Sheila served in the Canadian Armed Forces from 1957 – 1965. After her discharge Sheila joined the Royal Canadian Legion where she had been a member for 48 years. During her tenure she held many positions including, President of Branch 614, District D (Toronto) Commander and Youth Education Chair, a position she adored and held until her passing. Sheila will be sadly missed by all of her extended family and many friends on both sides of the border. She will be fondly remembered for her honest, loyal character, unconditional love for all and her amazing strength. She fought an incredible fight. The family wishes to thank Karen Moore, a close family friend who offered incredible support to both our parents throughout this journey and Sheila’s cousin and childhood friend, Sidney Collett who remained at her side during her last few days. We also wish to express our heartfelt thanks to the nurses of Sunnybrook Hospital, K Wing Palliative Care Unit for ensuring her last days were of comfort and peace. A Veteran Flag Service was held at Sunnybrook to honour Sheila for her service and dedication to the Armed Forces and to the Royal Canadian Legion. Cremation has taken place.
