It is with deep sadness we announce the passing of Sheila Gay McKellar, February 4, 2026, at the age of 86, surrounded by the love of family and friends.
Gay was Born in Toronto, to Rose and Eddy Monforton October 4, 1939, and older Brother Bob.
She spoke fondly of her early years spent with her cousins George and Richard in Windsor, Ontario, and her time with her life long friends from the neighbourhood and high-school (Bunnie, Trixie, Cathy and Wilma).
After graduating from Notre Dame High School, she later married, and had two children. While raising her kids she also worked full time as an editorial assistant for various publishing firms.
In her personal life she enjoyed music, reading, travelling, theatre and the arts. She looked forward to her annual trips to the Stratford festival and Myrtle Beach . She kept active and healthy with curling, gardening, volunteering, lunching and socializing with her many friends old and new.
She lived her life by to her favourite saying “Carpe Diem - Seize the day”.
Her love for family and friends, strength and courage when life was difficult, sound advice and sense of humour (often sarcastic) will never be forgotten .
Our mom, aunt and friend will be missed and her absence is already deeply felt. Pre-deceased by her partner Jack, she leaves behind her children Stephen (Anne), Lynn (Corey) grand-kids Angela (Steve) Jordan and Jessika, great grand-kids Jaxson, Ryker and Thea, sister -in-law Wilma, nieces and nephews, Elaine (Paul), Ann (Al), Michelle and Michael. Her great and great-great neices and nephews; Rachel (Joe), Jackie (Tony), Emma, Niko( Danielle), Jacob, Damian and Oriana.
Join us in the celebration of her life , February 18th, 12:30 pm at The Old Stone Cottage Pub, 3570 Kingston Rd, Scarborough, On. Light refreshments and food will be served.
