September. 13, 1954 – December 29, 2016.

It is with deep sadness to announce the untimely death of Roman (Roy) Mular, longtime resident of Toronto and member of Toronto telecom/ information technology industry.. He died peacefully at Mount Sinai Hospital due to complications of diabetes.

Roy had worked as a Sales Executive for various well known companies such as Burroughs, Unitel, AT & T, IBM and Enghouse. He is survived by his loyal and loving partner Josie Erent, his sister Nora Mular – Richards and husband Michael Richards, and his half brother John Gomulec Jr. Son of mother, the late Ernestine Schanzel of Sudetenland, a German speaking region of Czechoslovakia. Son of father Ivan ( John) Mular, born in the UKRAINE. His mother later remarried John Gomulec Sr, his stepfather, a few years after Roy’s father died of cancer at a very young age. He was proud of his ethnic heritage and loved his mother’s cooking and baking that included such favourites as plum/apricot/apple pastries/cakes, strudels, rouladen , schnitzel, potato salads, and goulash.

Roy attended various schools such as Cedarbrook Public School and Cedarbrae Collegiate Institute (Scarborough). He was a graduate of University of Toronto and MBA graduate of the Schulich School of Business, York University. As a young child, he was proven to be a voracious reader of the Encyclopedia Britannica. He was regarded by friends, colleagues, and international clients as highly intelligent, ambitious, charismatic, friendly, and loyal.. He had a great sense of humour and loved practical jokes. Fair minded individual who was very generous to those less fortunate both with his time and money. He had a great fondness for animals and nature. He strongly believed that the recipe for success included clear goals, desire, action and persistence. When he set his mind on a task, he proved to be formidable and competitive opponent. He had a passion for adventure and travel and was lucky enough throughout his career to be able to visit various countries around the world including Japan, France, England, Malaysia, Germany, The Netherlands and many more.

His hobbies included home renovation of which he learned valuable carpentry/contracting skills from his late stepfather John Gomulec Sr. He completed his personal home renovation projects using his own skill, knowledge and workmanship. Home Depot was considered his 2nd home. He was also a sports enthusiastic who enjoyed playing squash, jogging and golfing.

Donations may be made to the Toronto Humane Society, Junior Achievement Canada, or Schulich School of Business (MBA), York University in Roy Mular’s memory.

There will be a Roy Mular Memorial at the Forest Lawn Mausoleum and Crematorium Centre (CHAPEL)

This memorial has been set up to honour Roy’s lifetime achievements. Friends, family and colleagues are welcome to attend. Refreshments and snacks will be provided.
