Robert "Bob" James Dryden

Bob Dryden passed away peacefully in his sleep on September 25, 2021, shortly after a cancer diagnosis. He was predeceased by his parents, Grace (née Downey) and George Dryden, his wife Beth Gaines, and, shortly after by his sister Kathy. Bob is lovingly remembered by his daughter, Meg Dryden, and his siblings, Nirmal and Dan.

Born in Saint John, New Brunswick, Bob travelled widely before settling in Toronto. Throughout his life, Bob was a passionate advocate for affordable housing, dedicating his talents to projects in New Brunswick, Toronto, and South Africa.

A perfect day for Bob would be enjoying a good book in his garden, catching up with neighbours while walking his dog, Savi, then returning to cook a delicious meal to share with family over a few glasses of wine.

Respecting Bob’s wishes, there was no formal burial service. Instead, family and friends held celebrations of life on both coasts of Canada, scattering his ashes mixed with those of Beth, as the two passed away only months apart after being so entwined in life.

The family extends heartfelt thanks to the professionals, friends, and loved ones who supported Bob in his final months.

Instead of donations or flowers, the family suggests going for a walk in your favorite park and thinking of Bob.
