Petra Horopw

December 8, 1934 – May 21, 2025

It is with love and sadness that we announce the passing of Petra Horopw (nee de Koning) on May 21,2025 at Sunnybrook Veterans Hospital at the age of 90 after a short battle with cancer. Born in Schiedam, Netherlands. She loved to travel and cruise in the later years.

Beloved wife of late Sjouke Horopw (2015). They met in high school/college, then they immigrated to Canada and married in Montreal in 1957.

Cherished Mother of Derek Horopw (Laura) Grandson Jeffrey.

Survived by sisters in-law Evaline de Koning (late Koos), Marijka Edler-Hocking, and Pat Boll (late Harry), brothers-in-law Jeppe Mellema (late Dieneke) and Gerrit Kulsdom (late Anne-Marie), nieces and nephews.

Companion Frank Bar (2024). They enjoyed each other’s company, in the last years of their lives. Playing games in the evenings, having dinner, going to the theater, walking and were big-time bridge players. She also enjoyed watching tennis.
