Lallie Haye

October 21, 1928 — June 12, 2024

Toronto

It is with profound sadness that I announce the passing of my mother,

Lallie Haye, on June 12, 2024. My mother immigrated with her husband and her two youngest children to Canada from Jamaica in 1966.

She began working at Bilton’s Fine Foods in 1968. After Bilton closed, mom worked at the Kitchen Table in Forest Hill Village, serving the community until she retired in 2012. She worked in the Village for more than 40 years, and she had a ready welcome for every customer.

Mom was respected and admired by the Forrest Hill Village community and was honored by the community, and Councillor, Josh Matlow with a street/laneway that is named after her, “Lallie Haye Lane", Toronto, Canada.

Mom had many passions; she was an amazing cook and baker, she loved to shop, loved to travel, especially to California to visit her daughter, and she loved decorating.

She had an infectious good humor, and always found the right heart-felt words to comfort her friends and family. She was a prayer warrior; she was admired by me for her strong faith in the Lord. She lived a full wonderful long life of 95 years. She was a beloved mother to her children, a beloved wife to her husband, Norman Haye, sister and friend. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

She is survived by her sister, niece, nephews, grandchildren, her son, and her daughter.

The family wishes to thank the doctors, the nurses, Sharon and all the PSWs, the dietitians, Jose from the recreation department, Major Patrica, Teresa MSW, and the entire staff that took such wonderful care of her at Isabel and Arthur Meighen Manor. Toronto, Ontario.

Lallie Haye was cremated as per her wishes. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, July 20, 2024, at 10:00 am at Oakwood Baptist Church, 421 Oakwood Avenue, Toronto, Ontario M6E 2W1, followed with a reception in the church hall. The interment will be at 2:00 pm at Beechwood Cemetery, 7241 Jane Street, Concord, Ontario L4K 9Z9.
