John Horbacio

April 26, 1943 — August 15, 2025

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of John Horbacio at Sunnybrook Hospital, Toronto, ON, on August 15th, 2025. John was born in Winnipeg, MB on April 26th, 1943.

He left behind at his bedside his loving wife and best friend Marcia Horbacio of 25 years.

John was the son of Roy Horbacio and Dora Hladun (both predeceased) and the stepson of Steve, (predeceased).

He was the oldest brother of Arthur, Nick, Eddie, Lorraine and Alice (all predeceased). He is survived by his sisters Dolores Swayze (Earl), Carol Bandura (Rick) and Marylou Spadafore (Paul).

John had three children with Stephanie Rose (predeceased): Diana Horbacio (Claude), John Edward Horbacio and Janet Horbacio (Dolant). He also had 4 stepsons: Gabriel (Leticia), Diego (Anna), Lucas (Mandie) and Igor.

John left 5 grandchildren: Shane, Kolton, Liam, Mali and Addie and 2 step- grandchildren: Leo and Isabel.

John lived in Hemerlik as a young boy. He loved taking apart and putting together machinery. One day, when his dad was not around he took apart a whole tractor and when his mom told him to put it back together, he did it, and it worked perfectly.

After his dad's passing, he moved to Arborg, MB. At 16, he left home and he worked at various places, such as Canadian Tire, Standard Dairies, and Via Rail. He also owned a garage and a restaurant.

He had a passion for flying and owned his own airplane for 10 years. His children have memories of him performing aerobatics with them in the air.

Later in his life, he met his wife Marcia, the love of his life, and they spent the last 25 years together in Toronto, ON. They married in Brazil in December of the year 2000 and again in Canada, in the Catholic Church, in June of the year 2018.

John was a quiet man and a private person who enjoyed being by himself, but he also had moments when he was happy spending time with family.

Rest in peace, John. Forever in our hearts.

"Eternal rest grant unto him/, O Lord,

and let Your perpetual light shine upon him.

May his soul and the souls of all the faithful departed rest in peace.

Amen."
