In Loving Memory of Joan Challis
Joan Challis, born Joan Molyneux in Liverpool, England in 1945, passed away on July 24, 2022, just a month shy of her 77th birthday.
Joan, or our Nana, will be remembered and missed by her husband (Ian), her son (Stephen), her sister (Kay), her granddaughters (Samantha, Shelby) and her nieces and nephews (Debbie, Chris, Michelle, Garry, Terry and Leanne) and her friends and neighbors.
Joan was proud of her history and where she came from, so much so that she passionately dedicated her retirement to working with her sister on developing the family tree, pouring hours into Ancestry to uncover all of her questions about the family, and true to Joan, getting all of her answers. This interest in the family tree also brought Joan to the Isle of Man a few years ago to adventure back to the home of some of our family.
Gardening and her indoor plants was something she always enjoyed, especially her butterfly orchids. Her goal was to always have them flower again, year after year. A goal she always achieved.
She was a fan of her crime shows, lover of cats and could make the meanest rice pudding anyone had ever seen! Not to mention, following in her mother Kitty’s footsteps, her epic baked bread recipes. Joan was also always open to trying something new, even if it meant another one of her granddaughter’s vegetarian recipes!
A private gathering will be held at a later date.
