Jim Nahorniak

NAHORNIAK, Jim. November 20, 1936 – December 5, 2022. Jim was born in Rocky Rapids, Alberta, the fifth child of Minnie and George Nahorniak. The plan was for the family to move to Detroit, Michigan in the 1950’s, but when they got to Toronto they stayed. As fate would have it, he met Colleen and within a few short years they were married to begin their wonderful life together. He had a wonderful career as a diesel mechanic, which he did for over 40 years. Jim loved tinkering with engines, riding his bike, going for long walks, visiting Canadian Tire, and of course, golfing every weekend. Jim will be sadly missed by his children Lesley (Frank) and Mark (Jennifer) and three grandchildren, Chantelle (Jesse), Brittany (Josh) and Adam (Amanda) and three great grandchildren, Grace, Isabelle, and Blair. He’ll also be missed by many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. He passed peacefully surrounded by loved ones and is now reunited with his bride Colleen of 61 years. Remarkably, Jim rejoined Colleen at the same time of day, in the same hospital, four years later almost to the day. He will be missed by all who knew him. Special thanks to Veronica, his personal nurse and friend, the amazing staff at Cedarbrook Lodge, and Spectrum staff who loved and took great care of him. Cremation has taken place and a Celebration of Life will follow in the spring. Donations can be made in his name to

The Salvation Army

and

The Daily Bread Food Bank
