With heavy hearts, we announce the sudden passing of Jesse Kyle Gilmore Ronan on Wednesday, April 30th, 2025 at the age of 42. Jesse was the beloved son of Terry Gilmore and Neil Ronan, and a cherished brother to Patrick Ronan (Rebecca Ronan) and Evan Ronan (Sarah Waterfield). He was a proud uncle to Allison and Iris, who brought him endless joy, and he absolutely adored his doggy daughter Ruby Tuesday.
Jesse lived his life with a spirit that touched everyone fortunate enough to know him. His remarkable ability to find humour in life's moments was a gift he shared generously with family and friends. Those who knew Jesse will forever remember his famous laugh—a genuine, uninhibited giggle that could fill any room.
A true renaissance man, Jesse had an uncanny ability to stay informed about and discuss virtually any topic on earth. Whether it was obscure trivia, sports stats, film analysis, political discourse, or music history, Jesse's interests and knowledge seemed limitless. He was the person you called on when you needed to know more about the Leafs 3rd line, a specific Simpsons reference, Willie Nelson’s best album, or how to settle a debate on nearly any subject.
Music was perhaps Jesse's greatest passion. A true tastemaker, he approached his love of sound with an almost scholarly dedication, always eager to share a new band he discovered or dive back into an old catalogue. He was a believer that to truly enjoy a tune, it should be played loud!
Children were naturally drawn to Jesse, recognizing a kindred spirit in his big kid heart. He had a special gift for making every child feel important and heard. At social gatherings, Jesse could reliably be found "holding court"—surrounded by people of all ages, spinning tales, cracking jokes, playing DJ and creating the kind of moments that become treasured memories.
A celebration of Jesse's life will be held from 3-6:30pm on Sunday June 22nd at Richvale Community Centre, 160 Avenue Road, Richmond Hill Ontario.
In lieu of flowers please consider a donation to MusiCounts in honour of Jesse and his love of music.
You're gonna have to leave me now, I know
But I'll see you in the sky above
In the tall grass, in the ones I love
You're gonna make me lonesome when you go
