Jim Roberts, 82 of Woodbridge, Ontario passed away peacefully on January 16, 2024 in his home. He was born in 1941, in Corner Brook, Newfoundland and was raised in Scarborough, Ontario where he met and married the mother of his six children. Jim began his career in the door and lock hardware field in 1976, held a term as president of The Ontario Association of Locksmiths, and worked in the field until his retirement in 2015.
Jim was an active member of his community at the Legion Woods Apartments and often tended the grill and the chilli pot for gatherings and fund-raisers. An avid golfer, Jim organized golf tournaments to raise funds for Hospice Vaughan. A member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 414, Jim volunteered his time to support the legion and the poppy drive. Jim also volunteered with the Woodbridge United Church Christmas food basket campaign. It was at one of Jim’s charity events that he met his current wife of 20 years, Florence who cherishes her memories of their life together. Jim will also be remembered by his 6 children, step-daughter, 16 grandkids and 5 great grandchildren and will be missed by his dear friend Pete, many friends at Shark’s and the community.
In accordance with Jim’s wishes, there will not be a funeral service and friends and family are invited to remember Jim with a smile and perhaps raise a glass in his honour. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Poppy Fund, Canadian Cancer Society or Hospice Vaughan in his memory are appreciated.
