Gary Allen Dowell

Gary Allen Dowell, 55, of San Leandro, California, died in his sleep on August 4th, 2026 in New Hamburg, Ontario, Canada.

Gary was born on September 3rd, 1970 in San Leandro, California to Michele Terreault and Gary Hath. His grandparents, Claire and Robert Dowell, were important figures in his childhood and helped raise him.

Gary worked in the automotive industry for 33 years but recently attended Conestoga College in Kitchener, Ontario with a goal of becoming a counselor for children.

Gary was a lover of animals, enjoyed fishing, BBQing, computer games and was an avid supporter and proud member of “The Raider Nation” – The Oakland Raider’s most loyal fan base. He will be remembered for his kind heart, welcoming, if not sarcastic, personality, his willingness to listen and provide advice and his big laugh.

Gary is survived by his wife, Nancy; his 5 children, Christopher, Katelyn, Patrick, Michael and Stevie; his 2 grandchildren, Zane and Ziamara; his 5 sisters, Kim, Shandi, Beth, Kendra and Mandy; and his father, Gary.

He was predeceased by his mother, Michele and Grandparents, Claire, Robert, Beverly and Clifton.

The family will reach out to loved ones once a memorial service is arranged.
