It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Garth James Naumoff, beloved son of Elizabeth (Betty) Robertson, devoted, loving brother of Carl, caring uncle, dedicated athlete, coach and loyal friend.
Born in Toronto, Garth was a spirited and long-standing member of the Toronto Beaches community. For many years he served as a respected tennis professional at the Toronto Lawn & Tennis Club and at Mayfair Tennis for over 32 years, where he inspired generations of players with his passion and dedication to the sport.
An alumnus of Upper Canada College, he thrived in all sports. On the Varsity hockey team, he was a power forward and fearless teammate, which included particularly exceptional performances during international competition in Sweden. Garth pursued his love of tennis to the highest levels. He first competed at Jefferson State Junior College in Alabama in 1977, excelling in doubles, before going on to play NCAA tennis for Southern Illinois University Edwardsville (SIUE), where he earned a scholarship and distinction as an “All American.”
Garth lived life to the fullest, bringing energy, warmth and kindness to everyone he met. He leaves behind cherished family and friends who will forever hold his memory close.
A private farewell ceremony for him will be held with his family and a larger celebration of life event will be held at a future date.
Donations in Garth’s memory may be made to a charity of your choice.
