A Life Lived in Love

It is with profound love and sorrow that we announce the peaceful passing of our beautiful mother, Evelyn Joan Darlyne Guthro, Martell, Burchell, who departed this world on October 31, 2025. She left us surrounded by the love she so freely gave throughout her remarkable life.

Evelyn was a woman whose heart was a boundless well of warmth and generosity. She possessed a wonderful spirit, a contagious laugh, and a fierce devotion to her family. Her greatest joy was found in the simple moments: a shared cup of coffee, a long chat, or simply having her children and grandchildren close by. To know Evelyn was to feel genuinely seen and loved. She had an extraordinary ability to make everyone feel like they were the most important person in the room.

Evelyn’s memory will be forever cherished and upheld by her surviving three children:

Evelyn is also lovingly remembered by her many brothers, sisters, nieces, and nephews, all of whom shared in her big-hearted love and unforgettable spirit.

A Poem of Angels
The angels came on gentle wings, to guide her spirit home; no pain, no fear, the peace they bring,
no longer left to roam.
A golden light, a loving hand, reached out across the veil.
She stepped into that promised land, where sorrows cease to wail. She rests now in eternal grace. 
Though tears may fall upon this place, her love can't be pulled down.

A Final Loving Note
While we mourn her loss, we can’t help but smile, knowing Evelyn was always one for a good story and a bit of drama. It is entirely fitting—and perfectly Evelyn—that she chose to make her grand exit on Halloween. We imagine she simply decided the great beyond needed a little less trick and a whole lot more treat, and that, of course, she was simply too fabulous to settle for a boring, run-of-the-mill day. We’re pretty sure she’s already demanding the best seat and the strongest coffee up there.
