Emily Yuet-Kwai Yee (nee Wan)

With deep sadness, we announce the passing of Emily Yuet-Kwai Yee (nee Wan) peacefully on Sunday December 4, 2022 at Hennick Bridgepoint Hospital following a brief illness. She leaves behind her husband of 58 years William Yee, daughter Gail Yee, son-in-law Robert Seitz and her extended family.

Emily was born in Hong Kong in 1934 and immigrated to Canada in 1962 after several years in England studying, training and working as a Registered Nurse and mid-wife. She loved her job as a neonatal nurse at North York General Hospital and was part of the original “pioneer” staff when NYGH opened in 1968. She remained a staff member until the late 1980’s when rheumatoid arthritis forced her to give up her passion of helping mothers and their newborn babies.

Always very warm, caring and social, Emily loved to sing and dance. As a classically trained pianist and singer, she enjoyed sharing music with friends and family. Later in life, she honed her dancing skills with ballroom dancing that she enjoyed very much with her husband. She had a passion for life and believed it should be lived to the fullest, despite her physical disabilities.

She will be greatly missed by all that knew and loved her but will always be remembered in spirit for the kindness, thoughtfulness and love she shared for others. May Emily rest in peace.

The family would like to thank the staff at both North York General Hospital and Hennick Bridgepoint Hospital for the wonderful care they provided to Emily these past several weeks.

At this time, a private family memorial will be held. For those who wish to express sympathy, the family greatly appreciates this and asks that in lieu of flowers, to kindly make a donation in memory of Emily to the

Arthritis Society Canada

or the

Canadian Cancer Society

.
