Dilys Eleanor Jones

December 31, 1931 — March 27, 2025

It is with a profound mix of sadness and gratitude for a life well lived that we announce the passing of Dilys Jones, at the age of 93, surrounded by her loving family. Dilys was predeceased by her first husband Tadeusz Kaczmarek and her second husband Walter Jones.

Dilys was a devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt and godmother and will be sorely missed by her children David (Lisa), Janice (Gabe), Lise (John) and Meryl (Daniel), stepchildren Stephen and Lynda (Danny), grandchildren Paul (Shirley), Jennifer (Cory), Jacob and Emma, great-grandchildren Jackson and Mia, brother Derek, niece and nephew Wendy and Ian and goddaughter Patricia. Dilys’ family is eternally grateful for all her love and wisdom and her legacy of kindness and generosity.

Blessed with exceptional health for most of her life, Dilys remained active in her faith and engaged with family and friends. Remarkably, she even began leading an exercise group at the age of 87! Rather than advising on how to live a full life, she unreservedly led by example.

A lifelong Anglican, Dilys was fully involved throughout her life with church as a parishioner, warden and volunteer. In recognition of her dedication, she was named to the Order of the Diocese of Toronto (ODT) in 2017, an honor to celebrate outstanding laypeople in the Diocese of Toronto.

A dedicated hospital volunteer, she devoted over 40 years of service to Michael Garron Hospital. Dilys was also a recipient of the Queen Elizabeth II Golden Jubilee Medal in 2002 for her exemplary contributions to the community.

As a long-time member of the Toronto Hunt, Dilys cherished the many gatherings and weddings she shared there with family and friends over the past 45 years.

The family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Roy Wyman, Dr. Jennifer Arvanitis, Klaudia, Hermelina and Fritz.

A Funeral Mass will be held at The Church of St Jude (Wexford), 10 Howarth Avenue, Scarborough, M1R 1H4, at 11:00 a.m. on April 5, 2025, with a reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations in Dilys’ memory may be made to St Jude (Wexford) Anglican Church or Michael Garron Hospital.
