David Anthony Wregget (Derv), age 61, formerly of Mississauga, Ontario, passed away Tuesday, June 4, 2024.
He is preceded in death by his late wife, Patricia Norman, and parents Gordon Wregget and Georgette Wregget. He is survived by his daughter Paige Wregget, brother Kenneth Wregget, stepmother Helen Wallace-Wregget, and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.
David was born on September 10, 1962 on an airbase in France while his father was stationed there. The family moved to Cold Lake, Alberta, where David was raised for most of his younger years. He finished Grand Centre Cold Lake High School, then worked in chemistry for a few years before moving on to university and graduating with a degree in chemical engineering from the University of Alberta. He met his wife, Patricia, during his first job out of university, and the two moved to Toronto. There, they raised a small family and went on to lead highly successful careers in their respective fields. David worked primarily as a systems programmer and engineer with the international natural gas company, Linde. After working as an engineer for more than 30 years, he retired at the age of 60.
David was a big personality, making friends everywhere he went. He was gregarious and had the best sense of humour; the very few who disagreed had "something wrong with them," as he would claim. He was very intelligent; a jack of all trades, with the exception of his spelling skills. He lived a life full of travelling and experiences and loved his family and friends deeply. His heart eventually caught up to him, and he passed away from atherosclerotic and hypertensive heart disease.
