Corrado Silvestri

August 11, 1947 — December 17, 2025

Toronto

Silvestri, Corrado 78 years old of Toronto died surrounded by his family at Toronto General Hospital on December 17, 2025 after a short and intense battle with cancer.

Born in Cavezzo, Italy on August 11, 1947, Corrado was predeceased by his parents Ilva Gozzi and Remo Silvestri of Modena, Italy.

Corrado spent much of his life working in the hospitality business around the world. He started his training at a young age, making tortellini with his mom, Zii, and Nonna in Italy. In his teens he studied throughout Europe, ending up in Bermuda to complete his formal hotel management training.

Corrado came to North America in the early 70’s, starting out in Banff, Alberta, and working his way east, eventually ending up in Toronto. In Toronto Corrado worked at many iconic institutions including the Inn On The Park and the Toronto CN Tower when it opened in 1976. He went on to open his own establishment, Ristorante San Lorenzo at Church and King which quickly became a Toronto institution for great Emilian food.

When it was time to hang up his apron Corrado used his knowledge of restaurant kitchens to further his career in pizza system sales. During his time as a director of sales he travelled much of the world, meeting many new people and trying lots of different foods!

Corrado is survived by the lights of his life, his grandchildren, Samir Silvestri (Tory Pearson), Lucia, Fiamma, & Lorenzo Wong, Aaron Silvestri, & Hayden and Brooklyn Silvestri. He also leaves behind his children Yolanda Silvestri (Diogo Monteiro), Claudio Setti, Julia Silvestri Wong (Brian Wong), Giancarlo Silvestri (Janany Silvestri), and Giacomo Silvestri (Kimberly Silvestri). Even though Corrado was an only child, his love for making food for others, especially his world famous Emilian Lasagna and connecting with people created a chosen family that he loved very much.

The family would like to thank the nurses and doctors at Toronto General Hospital, UHN as a whole, and Bridgepoint for all of the time, patience, and care they gave to Corrado during this very difficult time. Corrado’s children would also like to say a special thank-you to Dr. Thomas F. Lindsay, who went above and beyond for their father from the first day he met him until the very end. Thanks as well to Dr. Lorretta Daniel, whose cardiac expertise, excellent care, and listening ear always made Corrado feel heard and taken seriously.

The family invites you to join them for a “festa della vita” on January 4, 2026 from 3-7pm (a short program will commence at 4pm) at Woodbine Heights Baptist Church, 1171 Woodbine Ave, East York, ON M4C 4E1.

In lieu of flowers the family asks that you direct your donations towards one of the brothers’ ride to conquer cancer fundraising:

Giacomo Silvestri PMCF Ride to conquer cancer
