Avril Hendy

It is with profound sadness we announce the passing of Avril Hendy (née Wilson) on September 30, 2026, two months before her 93rd birthday. Reunited with her beloved husband Jack of 63 years. Proud mother of Gillian (Ray), Allan (Maria), and Tim (Jennifer) and grandmother of Dakota, Savannah, Austin, Makayla and Mitchel. Born in London, England, and raised in Suffolk, one of Avril’s first jobs was with the venerable BBC. After serving four years in the WRAF (Women’s Royal Air Force) she emigrated with her new husband Jack to raise a family in Toronto, Canada. Along with her beloved Jack, Avril was a passionate animal welfare advocate and dessert fan, believing there was never a bad time for a cuppa and something sweet.

Avril will be deeply missed by all who knew her. In accordance with her wishes, a private family service will be held. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of Avril Hendy to Southlake Residential Care Village via the Southlake Foundation (give.southlake.ca) or to the Toronto Humane Society Memorial Tribute page (torontohumanesociety.com/tribute)
