It is with deep sadness that my wife Tanya and I share the peaceful passing of my mother Anna Navratil at Michael Garron Hospital in Toronto on January 9, 2026, at the age of 88. She left this world gently, and surrounded by love.
Born in Kromeriz, Czech Republic on March 23, 1937 she was the steady, gentle centre of my life — the person whose warmth, humour, and quiet strength shaped me in ways I’m still discovering. She is predeceased by her beloved parents Vojtech Kadlcak and Marie Kadlcakova (nee Dolezalova).
Anna immigrated to Canada with her husband, Stanley Navratil, the love of her life, in December 1968. Together they built a new beginning, carrying little more than hope, determination, two suitcases, a two-year-old boy, and their devotion to each other. When my father passed away in 1981, a part of her heart went with him, yet she continued forward with remarkable resilience. She honoured his memory not through grand gestures, but through the way she lived — with kindness, loyalty, and a deep appreciation for the people she loved.
She spent many years working as a bookkeeper, a role that suited her perfectly. She was organized, thoughtful, and dependable, the kind of person people trusted without hesitation. But the parts of her life that meant the most to her were never about work. She believed that relationships were life’s greatest treasure. Whether sharing a quiet conversation, offering a helping hand, or filling a room with laughter, she made those around her feel valued and understood. Her home was a gathering place—warm, welcoming, and always open to anyone who needed comfort, company, or a good story.
To her family, she was a steady source of strength and joy. She celebrated every milestone, supported every challenge, and created traditions that will be carried forward for generations. To her friends and community, she was loyal, dependable, and endlessly kind—the person you could call at any hour, knowing she would show up without hesitation.
Her passing leaves a space that cannot be filled, but her spirit lives on in the countless lives she touched. The love she gave so freely continues to ripple outward, reminding us to cherish one another as deeply as she did.
She will be profoundly missed and forever remembered.
