MAMA
Alexandrina Adler, PhD (18 Nov 1933 – 24 Jun 2024)
It is with disbelief that I announce the passing of my mother Alexandrina Adler (nee Asanii).
After a distinguished 33-year career as a researcher and teacher at the University of Agronomic Sciences
of Bucharest in her native Romania, mother emigrated to Canada to be close to me and my young
family. She was an essential caregiver and beloved grandmother to Victor and Daniel. She made new
friends in the new country and was respected and admired by many in her seniors’ community at
Willowdale Manor. She cherished her Canadian citizenship and had great appreciation for her new
homeland. Mother loved reading and listening to classical music, cooking and shopping, and did all these
the best she could until the day of her unfortunate accident. She wanted to remain tall and majestic like
the pine tree she had planted decades ago. Her sharp wit, her devotion to my family, and her
uncompromising nature will always be remembered.
The family wishes to thank the doctors, nurses and social workers at Sunnybrook Hospital and the
Palliative Care Unit for their competent and compassionate care.
