Aimee Rose Dawn Cardinell

On August 5th, 2023 Aimee Rose Dawn Cardinell, 35, passed away peacefully with her family by her side.

Aimee is survived by her mother, Emily (Carl); father Donald (Sharon); brother, Bill (Shannon); sister, Kari (Neil); nieces and nephews, Kaiden, Krisanna, Victor and Clare; her boyfriend Jordan; and her extended family, Jennifer, Vincent, Kimberly, Michael, Sherry and best friend Sam. She is predeceased by grandparents Mary Dunn and Jean and Reuben Cardinell.

Aimee was the youngest of three siblings, affectionally known to her family as Aimee Baby. She was born in Winnipeg on March 2, 1988 and grew up in the St. Vital area. As a student at Collège Jeanne-Sauvé, Aimee was active in community service and peer support. Her positive attitude, caring presence and listening skills made her a great support and friend.

Aimee’s love of art stood out from a young age. She was an extremely talented artist who loved to draw and paint. She further expressed her artistic nature through her ever-changing hair and makeup styles. Later she developed a passion for tattoo artistry. Her body became a walking canvas adorned with many tattoos that all held such meaning to her.

After high school, Aimee spent many years in the beauty industry. This work eventually took her to Toronto, where she made a life in the fun, bustling, big city that perfectly suited her personality.

Aimee excelled in the workplace and found her calling, working as a manager for over 16 years. Five years ago, she started with Arterra, working in the Wine Rack division. Aimee quickly climbed the leadership ladder to District Manager, where she successfully led and supported 17 stores. Aimee particularly loved training and believed that she was only as strong as the team that surrounded her. She genuinely cared for her employees, and did her best to raise them up. She believed that diversity made the world a better place and showed this belief in her hiring practices, and encouraged other managers to do the same. She wanted to be the best that she could be for her team, and accepted all feedback, positive or negative, to continue to better herself for the sake of others.

Aimee liked to be busy and actively engaged. While working full-time for the Wine Rack, she was also working towards a degree in Business Administration at Yorkville University.

Despite her busy life, Aimee still found time for friendship and love. Aimee was a free spirit, beautiful inside and out. She had an amazing, infectious laugh. She naturally attracted people and had a huge network of friends both in Winnipeg and Toronto.

Aimee recently found love and moved in with her partner Jordan. Together with their fur babies, Sadie and Baby G, they created a cozy home full of love. Although their relationship was cut way too short, their love was deep and strong and surely would have been everlasting.

Aimee was the type of person who impacted everyone around her. You were indeed a better person for having her in your life. Her generous spirit, kindness and fun-loving personality defined all of her interactions. Even in death, Aimee demonstrated her kindness by donating her organs so that others could have a second chance at life.

The family would like to thank the Neurology ICU at St. Michael’s Hospital in Toronto for their kind and gentle care of Aimee, and for their compassion and support. They would also like to thank all those who contributed to Aimee’s GoFundMe which has provided invaluable assistance during this unexpected and challenging time.

Our world has truly lost an angel.

A Celebration of Life will be held at the United Church in Meadowood at 1111 Dakota St, Winnipeg, MB, on Friday, September 1st, 2023, at 11 am—fellowship to follow at the church.
