Adolf Hartmann 1934 – 2017

It is with sadness that we announce the death of Adolf Hartmann on October 28, 2017. Born August 18, 1934 in Romania to Else Bierwak, and Natanael Hartmann, Adolf then grew up in Germany. There he met the love of his life and his wife of 60 years, Ingrid Hartmann. Together they moved to Canada with their darling son Ulrich (1959-2006) when he was just 3 years old. Adolf learned English, and carved out a wonderful life in Toronto based on a strong foundation of hard work, and never wavering dedication to his family. When he first came to Canada, he worked as a brick layer, later he came to work as a waiter. His passions included tennis, gardening, reading and travel. He was host to many wonderful backyard bar-b-ques, Christmas and Thanksgiving dinners. Adolf was loved by his daughter-in-law Karen (MacNeil Hartmann). He had a special place in his heart for his grandchildren, Samantha and Adam who adored their Opa as much as he adored them. Adolf was predeceased by his older brother Alfons, who died in childhood. Adolf was also the loving big brother of Leonide (Reyko), Rudy (predeceased), Paul (Monica), and Arthur (Katherine). And loving uncle to Birget, Andreas, Tomas, Peter, Robert, Tanya, Marcus and Christian. A Memorial Service will be held at Forest Lawn Mausoleum and Cremation Centre Chapel (17 Linelle Street) on Saturday, November 11, 2017 from 12:00-2:00pm. In lieu of flowers, we are asking that donations be made to

Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre

. The family would also like to thank the staff of K-Wing Palliative Care Unit at Sunnybrook for their kind care.
