Douglas Roy Blain (Dec 5, 1954 – May 13, 2023)

It is with great sadness and a heavy heart we announce the passing of Douglas Blain in his 69th year, born in Port Perry, ON. He unexpectedly passed away on Saturday May 13, 2023 at his home in Courtice, ON. Everyone who knew Doug loved him, or at least learned to. He had the best sense of humour and always made everyone laugh. He was fun, witty and had the best stories to tell. He was a man who cherished his family, friends, and would go out of his way for anyone. Besides being with his family Doug had a passion for driving fast cars, fishing, camping and especially sitting by the fire. He will be greatly missed. Son to deceased Parents Roy Blain and Beverly “Marlene” Blain. Dearly beloved husband to Glenda Leitch-Blain, Loving Father to Dennis Blain (Portia), Brittny Blain (Mike), Candice Blain (Anthony) and Matthew Leitch-Blain (Anna). Adored Brother to Darlene Blain Fraleigh Favetta (Joe) and deceased brother to Ted Blain. Doug loved his grandchildren, he was the best Grandpa and Gramps to Kiera Blain, Ava Blain, Alexa Blain and Lincoln Vandenbroek. He will also be missed by his brother-in-laws, sister-in-laws, his cousins, nieces, nephews and the Camping Group. Family and friends are invited for a Celebration of Life gathering on Saturday May 27, 2023 at the Port Perry Legion (484 Bay St. Port Perry) anytime from 3:30-8:30. Speeches to take place between 5:30-6:30. Bring your best memories to celebrate Doug’s life. We hope you will join us in remembering this amazing man, that we will always hold close to our hearts.

What can I even say? Dad we are going to miss you so much. We will miss your laugh, your ridiculous jokes, your hilarious stories, your early morning texts letting us know you’re thinking of us, but most of all we will miss your presence. Knowing your only a phone call away (even if it took you days to answer) or just down the street. Knowing you will no longer just show up to check in on us and have a coffee. You were such a special person. You touched so many lives and our world just won’t be the same without you… Until we meet again Dad, we love you..

To Glenda and your family,
I didn’t know Doug but by reading the obit and condolences, I feel like I get a better sense of the kind of man he was. Sounds like he was the perfect match for you Glenda, gregarious and funny. And it sounds like there was and is a lot of love there. That makes the space he has left in your heart that much harder to fill. But over time that’s where the memories will reside. Slowly they will come and take their place. And they will let you know, memory by memory that he is still with you. My deepest sympathy to you all. God bless. Laurie Heard- school bus 973.
