Anne Marie Montgomery

Anne Marie Montgomery. September 11, 1930- February 5, 2022
Anne Marie Montgomery passed away peacefully with her family by her side. She will be deeply missed by her children Laurence, Sarah and James, son-in-law Scott, daughter-in-law Anna, as well as her grandchildren Ben, Katherine, William, and Isabelle. Family was very important to her and she was thrilled to discover long lost family members later in life.
Anne Marie was born in New Brunswick and studied at Mount Saint Vincent University in Halifax. She worked at many jobs in journalism. In particular, she worked at CBC Radio in the 1970s and joined the Communications department of the Ontario Ministry of Health in the 1980s.
She loved gardening, playing bridge, summer cottage rentals with the grandkids, and travelling to far-off, exotic and not so exotic places like Zambia, the Galapagos Islands, the Middle East and Cape Cod.
She was a religious woman. And her faith motivated her to pursue interests in human rights, the developing world, and the environment. The way we treat one another and this planet was very important to her.
We’ll miss the Sunday evening dinners, and those wonderful summer weeks at the cottage as well as those trips from one end of the country to the other.
In accordance with Anne Marie’s wishes, she was cremated and the family has decided to hold a memorial service in the summer. If you would like to attend, please let us know at jameswbmontgomery@gmail.com and we will pass on the details.
